A 20 minute Sunday reset for the week ahead

Monday morning goes badly when the week gets planned at 7.40am with one shoe on. A weekly reset moves that thinking to a quiet twenty minutes the night before. Tea, phone, kitchen bench. That is the whole setup.

Minutes 1 to 5: read the week

Open your calendar and read Monday to Sunday, out loud if it helps. You are looking for clashes and for the things that need something from you first: a costume, a form, a lift, a present.

Every one of those becomes an item on your list with a day next to it.

Minutes 6 to 10: clear the list

Go through last week's list. Tick off what is done. Delete what no longer matters, without guilt. Move what is left to a real day this week.

If something has been carried over three weeks in a row, it is either too big or not important. Break it into a first step or let it go.

Minutes 11 to 15: meals and the shop

You do not need a meal plan with seven new recipes. Pick dinners for the busy nights only, the ones where nobody will have the energy to decide. Check the fridge and pantry, then write the shopping list once.

  • Dinners for the two or three hardest nights
  • Lunchbox basics
  • Anything that ran out last week

Minutes 16 to 20: pick three

Choose the three things that would make the week feel handled if they got done. Not ten. Three. Put each one on a day.

Then set reminders for anything with a hard deadline, and stop. The reset is finished when the timer is, not when the list is perfect.

Making it stick

Same time every week, tied to something that already happens, like after the kids are in bed on Sunday. Keep it short enough that you never dread it. A rough reset every week beats a perfect one once a month.

Doing it with Mirey

You can run the whole reset as one conversation. Tell Mirey what is coming up and what is still hanging over from last week. She proposes the tasks, reminders and shopping list, and you review them one at a time before they are saved.

She does not book or buy anything for you. Mirey is currently free to use on the web.
